To live a dream...

Over the last week I've undertaken a new task; I've begun training myself to lucid dream.

For those of you who don't know what lucid dreaming is, it's simply a dream-state in which one is aware that he or she is dreaming, giving him or her control over it.

Having free reign over my dreams is something I've wanted for along time now, but never took the time to look into how to induce a lucid dream.  After reading about it, however, I've found what seems like a simple way to do so, with a little work.  Basically all one has to do is to find a common reoccurrence in his or her dream, and whenever you come across it, perform a reality check to determine whether you're sleeping or not.

Seems simple, right?  Well over the last week I've tried to find a common reoccurrence in my dreams to start, but so far I've got nothing.  I've not given up hope yet, hopefully I'll find something soon.

Anyways, has any of my followers happened to have mastered the art of lucid dreaming? Anyone even try?  It's an interesting thing to read about in the very least.

I've never tried it. But after reading this I hope that I can manage to. It sounds great. To be able to control my dream would be amazing. I could make anything happen. To bad it would only be a dream though.

Man, lucid dreaming is the shit. I had a fever this weekend and was unable to sleep due to heavy fever induced nightmares. It wasnt until I understood the system behind the dreams and took control of them that I finally got some healthy sleep!
Keep on training man, I have lucid dreams whenever I am relaxed.

What you're talking about is DILD or Dream Induced Lucid Dreaming, or a variation of MILD ( memory induced...)
Your first task is to remember your dreams, as each of us dream each night, on an average of 2 dreams per night. Most of us forget them upon awakening.
First - improve your dream memory by keeping a dream journal. In the said journal - you`ll discover your dream signs.
Don't rely on your memory at first, trust the dream journal. Try jotting down everything you remember and you'll find your pattern.

I haven't mastered it but I honest to god love it when I do have lucid dreams. They're fucking beastly.

I have tried it, at best I got semi-lucid during dreams, to the point I was aware I was dreaming but rarely did I ever control anything. I will say that because of it I did not get a lot of deep sleep and often I experienced a lot of dreams I wish I never had. I encourage you to do it, but just be wary.

I've heard one of the best ways to accomplish this is to focus on recognizing one specific item.. like the shiny red ball... once that is seen in the dream you can almost tell yourself your dreaming ... well, that's what I've heard

try setting your dream as you fall asleep by thinking about what you want to dream about. It seems to work for me. You just have to focus on it.

sometimes I can do it, but only by accident and by the time I realize it, I lose it.

Been trying for a while now.. I usually end up falling asleep, unfortunately.

Twice I was able to get my body to fall asleep but stay conscious (feel sleep paralysis set in) but wasn't able to spark a dream :( gettin there!
